Contact by Form Mail

Have you noticed how more and more sites are providing 'contact us' methods using forms built in to pages rather than a 'click here' link which opens email software on your computer? There are four main reasons for this;

Website friendly; the visitor doesn't get distracted from your site.
User friendly; without forms, the visitor may have to go to Hotmail etc to mail you.
Receiver friendly; you get the option to ask for any necessary details in the form.
Anti-spam; Junk mail generators A.K.A. 'spambots' can not abuse the abuse the form mail system if set up correctly.

In-House Search Engines

Web surfers are getting more and more impatient at browsing, so an increasingly necessary function within informational and commercial sites is the in-house, or 'local' search engine.

Working the same way as Google and Yahoo etc, but dedicated to your pages, complete with spelling suggestions, recommended links, synonyms*, wild-cards**, and even pictures at the results, this allows your visitors to find what they came to your site for at the type of a word and click of a button. * Search synonyms (associated words) work like a thesaurus, are optional and custom set. This lets you decide e.g. whether you want to associate a user's search for 'Windows' with extra results; 'Double Glazing' or 'Microsoft'.

** Wild Cards allow you to place a star mid-word if you don't know the letter it is spelt with, the search engine fills it in for you.
